INDUSTRIAL CLEANING

In any industrial sector, LQI uses the most up-to-date techniques for cleaning and metallic surface preparation, complemented with wastewater treatment, in order to avoid any environmental damage.

In what concerns industrial cleaning, LQI develops activities which include chemical cleaning of equipments, tank cleaning and gas freeing, pipeline cleaning and decockering, surface cleaning, pipeline and water reservoir cleaning and disinfection.

These wide range of services are described bellow.

Chemical cleaning of equipments

This process is used when a metallic surface deep cleaning is required, removing scale and metallic oxides.

Chemical cleaning solutions are circulated, through the equipment, by means of chemical resistant pumps. The circulation velocity of solution is strictly related with its composition, equipment geometry, equipment dirtiness and metallic surface corrosion conditions. Any part of the equipment becomes accessible with such a process.

Tank cleaning and gas freeing

Transportation and storage tanks usually need to be cleaned due to a large range of reasons (load changing, repair, residues elimination).

For this kind of cleaning we use some techniques (butterwort, waterjet high pressure and vacuum cleaning) concerning mainly the residues to be eliminated and the tank geometry. Those techniques may be combined or used alone, once they are strictly related with the work in course.

Pipeline and water reservoir cleaning and disinfection

After construction or repairing of water pipelines or reservoirs, it is necessary to proceed to its disinfection, in order to ensure the water quality.

Pipeline cleaning and decockering

"Pig" cleaning (air or water powered), is one of the well-known process to eliminate building-up residues and scales on pipelines and furnaces.

Surface cleaning

LQI owns equipment and high pressure water jet machines, working with cold or hot water and with or without chemicals injection, for a range of uses:

- Boilers and furnaces gas side cleaning.

- Overflowing fluids cleaning.

- Air-coolers external cleaning.

- Tank cleaning.

On the other hand, LQI uses a new technique, known as "cryogenic cleaning", which does not produce any contaminated effluent. The cleaning agent is a dry ice stream (solid carbon dioxide) in compressed air, at high velocity (300m/s). The impact of dry ice into the surface micro fractures the residue to remove and produces a thermic effect which has as a consequence the sublimation of the solid carbon dioxide. This technique has large application in food industry (production and packaging lines), avoiding the production shut down or equipment disassembling.

OIL FLUSHING

In the flushing of lubricant oil and hydraulic systems, the oil is filtered and circulated, through the system, by means of pumps specially assembled for this purpose. The circulation velocity and filters efficiency are strictly related with the type of residue and system geometry.

STEAM SUPPLYING

During plants shut-downs it is sometimes necessary to supply additional steam for a huge range of purposes.

LQI owns mobile steam generator units, fully equipped with water and fuel tanks and all the necessary connections, as a wide range of steam, water and fuel piping and hoses, headers connections and valves and also water treatment equipment.

WASTEWATER TREATMENT

Recently, LQI has started to provide services in the area of wastewater treatment, in order to minimise environmental impacts of effluents generated by industrial cleaning.

LABORATORIAL ANALYSIS AND GAS RESEARCH

By performing works like chemical cleaning, water chemistry, oil flushing and steam blow out as well as tank cleaning.

LQI has been driven into the laboratory analysis, fuel gas research and pollution control. For this purpose, LQI owns a mobile laboratory, fully equipped, to perform cleaning tests and a wide range of analysis for cleaning control.

HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCES TRANSPORTATION

Recently, LQI has been certified for hazardous substances transportation. It has the adequate technical and human resources to perform this type of services.

Many times this complements the industrial services usually performed by LQI, which produce toxic wastes that need to be adequately handled.
